About us

HSF-Nail-it! is developed by farrier Douwe Dokter and engineer Taeke de Boer.

Douwe, being a farrier for over 35 years, found that when shoeing without any clips the shoe tends to shift during nailing. Of course this causes no problem for an experienced farrier but it can extend the time it takes to shoe the horse. He also noticed that for novice farriers it wasn’t easy to nail the shoe in the same position they fitted it.

Always trying to innovate, Douwe turned to engineer Taeke to brainstorm about a tool for quick and easy nailing without clips. Prototypes were made and handed tot renowned local and international farriers to try. The testers not willing to return the tool made them realize they were on the right track!

So, many modifications and tests later we can now help you improve your business with this great farrier tool, the HSF Nail-it!
